Grand jury declines to indict Cassidy Hutchinson

A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., rejected a Justice Department attempt to indict former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson over the account she gave lawmakers about President Donald Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, two people familiar with the matter told the Washington Post. Hutchinson had testified to the House Jan. 6 committee about Trump’s conduct that day. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were discussing a grand jury matter. The Washington Post said the rejection marked another extraordinary setback in President Trump’s wider campaign to pursue his political opponents.
