Tom Watson joins Palantir as senior UK executive

newsSep 18, 2026706,153

Tom Watson has taken a full-time role as senior vice-president at Palantir and will work alongside Palantir UK and Europe chief executive Louis Mosley. Palantir said Watson will help “deepen the social and economic value its work creates” and Watson said he was “terrifically excited,” citing aims to speed up NHS diagnosis, treatment and discharge and to help police “crack crimes and root out corruption.” The hire comes as Palantir fights pressure over a contested £330 million NHS contract linked to Andy Burnham’s government and a court battle with Sadiq Khan after Khan blocked a £50 million Metropolitan Police deal; Palantir already reports annual UK turnover of £427 million. The company, co-founded by Peter Thiel, supplies AI software to the Israeli military and to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which has driven political backlash. Watson has advised Palantir part time since 2024, previously accompanied Louis Mosley at Labour party conferences, and has taken a leave of absence from the House of Lords and relinquished his parliamentary pass while working for Palantir. Palantir also holds a £240 million contract with the Ministry of Defence. Critics framed the appointment as another example of a revolving door between politics and big tech, with Unlock Democracy chief executive Tom Brake calling for an enforceable five-year ban on ministers moving into industry roles.

As former Labour minister Tom Watson joins Palantir, please read this devastating exposé by @petergeoghegan.bsky.social & @lucasamin.bsky.social of how the company, with Peter Mandelson's help, wormed its way into the UK government to sell its dire & dangerous products. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Revolving doors and political auctions. Labour peer and former Labour deputy leader Tom Watson joins Palantir. Palantir is trying to save its £330m NHS contract, wants more public contracts. Nick Clegg, Rishi Sunak, George Osborne and others have taken similar jobs.

Watson may be having a temporary break from the HoL, that won't remove his knowledge of the working of government and any useful contacts he's made. There's a bad smell about this.

This is the reason Labour's MPs went to war against their own leader between 2015 and 2020. It was to preserve this system. All the reasons they gave publicly were lies: it was, and is, about preserving this system of corporate patronage, which they personally benefit from.

Well, this is extremely disappointing @tomwatsonofficial.bsky.social

Our corrupt political private enterprise system. Labour Tories and Reform all receiving money for doing private companies favours. The latest scandal being ex deputy Labour Leader joining the AI magnet Palantir.

Watson turned out to be such a scumbag, and after he’d been painted such a hero during the Leveson inquiry (I think it was?).

Tom Watson, even from before those times he lied and lied about and betrayed Jeremy Corbyn, who for all his faults has always been a person of unimpeachable integrity, was never himself going to earn a reputation for being someone of ethical and moral integrity or conscience. #CorruptPoliticians

Good morning & Happy #FollowBackFriday Everyone🙏✊🏻☮️ How shamelessly disgusting & treacherous of former Deputy Lab Leader Tom Watson to join Palantir as the Snr. Vice President. Didn’t he know ppl been begging the govt including London Mayor Sadiq Khan to get Palantir out of NHS & UK. #ToriesGone805

Tom Watson joining Palantir. Nick Clegg joining Meta. What next? Boris Johnson joining the RNLI?

Important to understand: Tom hasn’t *just recently* taken a job promoting and protecting the interests of Labour’s corporate friends, by getting his journo mates to print articles bigging up their business and shitting all over the left. That was always his job.

I really wonder what the story is of Tom Watson's total moral collapse. Is it really just the money and some narcissistic contrarianism? He used to champion digital rights as <the> key Labour ally for @openrightsgroup.org Then he turned betting industry lobbyist, then crackpot theorist, now this.
