WNBA rescinds Caitlin Clark's eighth technical, averting suspension

The WNBA rescinded Caitlin Clark's eighth technical foul from the Indiana Fever's Aug. 8 win over the Chicago Sky, a person with direct knowledge told USA TODAY Sports. Clark was assessed the technical with 1:06 remaining in the third quarter after she stumbled into an official following contact from Chicago guard Natasha Cloud; the referee ruled Clark made contact with the official. Fever head coach Stephanie White called the call "really bad" and said the contact was "incidental." Clark said after the game "I've already watched it on the tape, so we'll let the league decide, but it wasn't intentional or anything. So I'm hoping it's getting rescinded." Because the technical was removed, Clark remains at seven technicals and will not serve the automatic one-game suspension that would have sidelined her for the Fever's Aug. 11 game against the New York Liberty. Clark had 26 points and 11 assists in the game against the Sky.

The initial call appears to be that Clark was perceived to have pushed off the ref with a forearm which is not something players are allowed to do. This is her 8th technical foul. If upheld, she will be suspended. #WNBA

Time to start suspending the officials. They suck in all games especially the fever games. They call on average about 30 fouls on the fever and 22 on opponents. This ref didn’t try to protect herself or try to protect CC. She knew CC has 7 technical fouls. Get some college or HS refs who are better
