Comics Unleashed will replace The Late Show at 11:35 PM on CBS
Byron Allen bought CBS's 11:35 p.m. late-night block and will air his syndicated show Comics Unleashed in The Late Show's former slot starting Friday. Allen, WHO hosts Comics Unleashed, said the program will feature "no politics" following Stephen Colbert's exit from The Late Show. The change replaces a high-profile political late-night franchise with a syndicated comedy panel, marking a clear shift in CBS's late-night programming and tone.
Seeing promos for Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed on the last Colbert ep feels tacky to me, but mostly I'm impressed that Allen says and does nothing in them, and has seemingly never tried to improve that show or get better at whatever his role is on it in the 30 years I've known it existed.
It sucks that an infomercial for touring comics is replacing a proper late-night show, and I hate it. But also it's wild to keep making that particular infomercial, where you just kind of sit there and let people do their acts without adding anything at all, for this long.
Now David, I heard you’re seeing promos for my show. [polite applause while crowd awaits you repeating this exact sentence]
I always loved norm’s story about how bad of a host he is. Jon Lovitz had a bit about aging and Byron Allen set him up for it by saying “so I hear you’re getting older”
He’s the Spirit Halloween of entertainment and somehow a billionaire because of it.
That name is familiar--is he the guy from Real People, like 50 years ago?
There's got to be a really interesting story about where Byron Allen's money comes from. He was (allegedly) nearly bankrupt in the mid-90's, but was able to make lots of big acquisitions; including The Weather Channel for (again, allegedly) ~$300 mil ten years later. @dianamoskovitz.bsky.social ?
I'm sorry it's been on for *how* long?
It makes me especially sad that Colbert is being replaced with this pink slime. I saw a taping of Comics Unleashed way back in 2006, and I've never been SO BORED by legit talented people (e.g, Norm MacDonald, who was noticeably "leashed" as another commenter said).
Based on what I've heard it sounds like something that plays on hotel tvs.
It's odd that somebody who co-hosted a show on network TV in the late 1970s is hosting a show on network TV in the late 2020s. It's like, they just wanted to intentionally driver viewers away. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMyW...
I did not realize it was playing immediately after. Really had to scramble for that remote.
a poignant, touching moment immediately followed by "here he is, a man that is #1 on the hair transplant donor list... byron allen." a good reminder that everything we love dies while the idiocracy grows larger and more powerful.
I could not turn it off fast enough
“Who tf is Byron Allen” he said aloud in his living room
As soon as I was sure it was over, I turned the channel. I won’t let them think I am interested in a second of anything else.
Americans have a long history of standing up for what is right. I am absolutely befuddled that we are ALLOWING this nonsense to happen to our nation. Resist the MAGA BS and never stop.
And now for something completely different…
The final episode of The Late Show hosted by Stephen Colbert airs on Thursday, May 21, 2026. CBS will end the franchise entirely after a 33-year run, and the timeslot will be replaced by Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. CBS needs to go dark at midnight tonight. Boycott everything they own.
Paramount will likely strip CBS for parts. With their major talent gone there's not much left. Weiss is destroying CBS News leaning more right than Faux News. Thinking it will eventually become TrumpTV. Likely bought with shady crypto. New home of fake gold coins, ED Pills & Colloidal Silver ads...
