Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said the club's titles are "absolutely not" tainted after an independent commission found City guilty of the majority of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League. Maresca told reporters he has "complete trust, 100%" in the owner, the CEO and the sporting director and expects the club to win its appeal, saying "probably the right moment to speak about that is when we are going to win this appeal." The commission found City guilty of breaches relating to the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons, including what it described as 'sham' contracts and misleading accounts linked to disguising more than £830m of secret funding. City have appealed, saying the ruling contains "clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe." Maresca said the players are unaffected by "the noise" and remain focused on the football; he confirmed Erling Haaland is "ready" to play after the international break. Maresca declined to confirm whether he had read the commission's findings and said he would have accepted the job even if the findings had been published before he agreed to join. City face rivals Liverpool away on Sunday, a match Maresca said may produce an even more hostile reception because of the verdict, and the appeal process will determine any sporting sanctions next.
