Final Fantasy XI removes free trial time limit, raises cap to 75
Final Fantasy XI's free trial has removed the 14-day time limit and increased the level cap to 75 today:
I wish all the new players good luck on the first boss of the game. Getting past the PlayOnline launcher.
This is phenomenal news for gamers with ADHD (me, for example)
So it's basically just free now, interesting
MMO at a reasonable price.... but at what cost?
final fantasy 11 is a truly one of a kind mmo and absolutely worth hopping onto
you can now play the game that made me transgender for free up to level 75
FF11 not only has loyal player base to this day, it still gets (sporadic) updates. I always wondered why SE would actively keep two MMOs alive, worrying they'd cannibalize each other. Turns out, they coexist quite well!
There's a few limits in place here with QOL and the like, but I think FFXI is magical in a way little else can be. If you're curious just try it, don't let the way anyone talks about it daunt you. It's a world, if you exist in it at all you're not doing anything wrong.
what if we played FFXI together
Im gonna have to figure this out now arent I?
this is a game SE tried to kill btw
YO. I knew this was coming but might ACTUALLY finally sit down and play the damn thing now. Been forever.
have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMO final fantasy xi- wait wrong one sorry
The previously announced changes to the FFXI Free Trial are now live! As of today, September 30, the 14-day time limit has been removed, and the character level cap has been raised from Level 50 to Level 75. Previously expired trial accounts can be used again too! www.xeznaff.com/post/final-f...
Hey kids, play FFXI thats the post
#advqotd #ffxi Veteran Adventurers! What is some advice you have for new adventurers that are starting the expanded free trial? What are some things you wish you knew? New Adventurers, feel free to post your questions as well, or what you're looking forward to!
The free trial update that removes restrictions on playtime is live NOW.
Like, 85-95% of the people you see walking around that look really intimidating and dripped out from head to toe in BiS gear would drop what they're doing to help you with a menial task or answer a question
Permanent key items are more important than gear - their benefits last forever and take up no inventory space.
Don't be afraid to ask for help in-game. Active players WILL come find you and help you navigate if you get lost or help you with a boss fight if it's giving you trouble. You will get advice and encouragement from strangers in FFXI like no other MMO can provide.
- if you’re not going for that authentic 2002 experience, go download the windower launcher/plugin loader and get yourself a proper minimap. incredibly useful because overworld objects that are quest related are completely invisible - also get the one that lets you disable the mount music
The game is well over 2 decades old, its janky, it has a learning curve shaped like a brick wall, and a lot of the character of the game comes from it being an unbalanced dumpster fire. Saying that, FFXI is something you only get to enjoy for the first time once. Have fun, take your time.
when starting as a caster: if you need to buy a spell scroll, compare its price across the auction house and npc vendors. filling out your spell list can be really pricy, so you've gotta be frugal wherever you can also turn on your buff timers!!! config > misc. 3 > status icons > timer display on
u can get a cute hat if someone already playing recruits u thru the gold world pass www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Gold_Wo... also for exp items u have to select yourself, go to item menu, and then "use" the item to get the exp buff, u don't get the bonus from just having it equipped etc
level red mage so you can sneak/invis yourself. it'll save you money for your expensive teleports. plus you get a cool hat once you start doing your artifact quests. y'all love cool hats.
Always check all your inventories for the key item you need if it doesn't seem to drop!!! Don't waste your time like a lot of us did!
THE MOOGLES THAT STORE YOUR CRYSTALS FOR U!!! USE THEM!!!!!! DON'T STUFF CRYSTALS IN UR STORAGE
Please learn to use storage slips and the ephemeral moogle YOU WILL SAVE SO MUCH SPACE
There's an Artisan Moogle just outside of the Mog House entrance in Ru'lude Gardens that gives you one free Scroll of Instant Warp a day, good for doubling up with your Warp Ring to get around quickly *especially* when doing early questing that requires you go to back and forth between places a lot
I am not an MMO Freak by any stretch of the imagination, but Final Fantasy XI is now and forever my favorite video game on this godforsaken planet. If Marathon had kept on in the mold of early S1 it might have had a shot at dethroning FFXI but alas
The only thing I don't like about FFXI is the math on how much I've spent on it keeping an account since spring of 2004. 😭
some day i really gotta try to find my old serial keys so i can try to get support to recover either of my original accounts that are tied to long-dead emails and in my dead name lmao
I understand why they banned the auction house in the FFXI free trial but it really does make that game significantly worse in a lot of respects. A challenge I get mad at in mmos is when people go "heh I'm gonna solo it all to prove I'm a pro gamer" when it's a game predicated on multiplayer
*guy with a lot of free time voice* that's right I took the no friends challenge pretty cool huh
this is how I feel about the free trial restrictions for 14. I get why, but it sucks getting a bunch of friends to get into it, they hit a gear wall and I'm like here let me craft you some and then oh can't trade to them.
in fairness they've been working for years on turning retail ff11 into a largely solipsistic experience, so i'm not that surprised they decided that disabling the AH wouldn't actually impact the game very much
there's a (required) san d'oria quest fairly early on where you have to collect like 5 of some mob drops and the rates can be crazy low. so Lol
tbf solo gold making/exploration/hardcore/etc challenges can be fun/cool when its just a way to show off various hidden corners of the game most people ignore because theres ways to circumvent it
