On September 28, 1976 Stevie Wonder released the double LP Songs in the Key of Life, which turns 50 today. The album produced enduring singles including "Sir Duke," "Isn’t She Lovely," and "I Wish" and is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums ever recorded; Prince called it "the best album ever recorded," according to Glide Magazine. BBC Radio marked the anniversary with a special program of music and conversation about the record. Several posts marking the anniversary note that Wonder has shared four previously unreleased tracks from the Songs in the Key of Life sessions. The album’s breadth and continued discovery of outtakes underline why Songs in the Key of Life remains a landmark in popular music five decades on.

50! An overflowing album (a double Lp with bonus 45; it seems meant for the CD or streaming age). Its richness still astounds, full of fresh discoveries ("Contusion," "All Day Sucker,"etc)
