Bo French posts racist photo about University of Texas students

politicsSep 13, 2026525,003

On Sunday, Bo French, the Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner and former Tarrant County GOP chair, posted a photo of University of Texas students of South Asian descent cheering after Texas’ comeback win over Ohio State and wrote that the image shows "how many Americans have been displaced by foreigners." The Texas Tribune reports the xenophobic post followed the game and reiterated French’s past call to deport 100 million people, a comment that would include U.S. citizens. The post drew public rebuke from fellow Republicans, including Sen. John Cornyn, and prompted a wave of intra-party criticism just weeks before the November election. Critics noted some top statewide Republicans have not condemned French, and the controversy has become a focal point in the Railroad Commissioner race. The episode intensifies pressure on Texas GOP leaders to respond and could affect Republican unity and messaging ahead of the election.

One of the few remaining shafts of daylight between the Rethuglikkkan establishment and the chud swamp is the former still tends to view South Asians as model minorities who hate woke and the latter are ferally racist about them

A major development in US politics since, well, Elon Musk took over Twitter is that Republican politicians are now more racist than their base when it used to be the opposite.

I’m a proud UT grad. I’m proud of those students who by sheer virtue of admission are the best and brightest in the whole state. I’m thrilled they got to root on Texas in an instant classic of a game. I’m livid someone would try and ruin this moment for them. Beyond livid. Leave the kids alone.

There’s a lot of things to take from this •Texas Dems may win multiple Statewide races they *probably* shouldn’t be able to •Republican candidates are continuing to get worse and in tolerating that are throwing races away •this is a sign of things to come for the GOP and god help us if they win

This unnecessarily becoming an issue is a gift. I dunno if any will have the courage to endorse Dems, but it is something that can lead to voter apathy from the old-guard types

After months of staying quiet on his gutter racism, top Texas Republicans are now condemning a post in which Bo French, candidate for Texas Railroad Commission, posted a photo of brown UT students at yesterday's game and said "the problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined."

Sen John Cornyn, quote tweeting Bo French: "This is the Republican nominee for statewide office. Are other Republican elected officials going to condemn the intolerance and racism, or look the other way while it becomes normalized. This is how great political parties self-destruct. Sad."

Monty Bennett, Republican megadonor and publisher of the "nonpartisan" Dallas Express, weighs in on Bo French's most recent provocation, appearing to endorse rhetoric that other Republican politicians in Texas have described as racist.
