Nottingham Forest beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park as Igor Jesus bundled in a late winner after Liam Delap had opened the scoring with a 25-yard strike. Delap registered his first Forest goal 45 seconds into the second half after a move involving Daniel Muñoz and Boubacar Kamara. Aston Villa drew level when Alysson headed home from John McGinn’s short-corner cross early in the half. Villa finished the match with 10 men for the final 12 minutes after Ian Maatsen was stretchered off following a challenge by James McAtee that Unai Emery called a clear red and said the VAR, Timothy Wood, should have flagged. Pau Torres left early with a hamstring problem that could sideline him for about a month and Emery substituted heavily, bringing on Johan Manzambi and Ibrahim Mbaye for their debuts. Forest, missing defenders Nikola Milenkovic and Jair Cunha through injury, recorded Oliver Glasner’s first win in charge of the club.
