Lando Norris took pole for the inaugural Madring qualifying session with a 1:31.824, edging Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli by 0.011 seconds. Lewis Hamilton qualified third for Ferrari, 0.140 seconds off Norris, with Max Verstappen fourth for Red Bull and Charles Leclerc fifth. The top four spots were occupied by four different teams: McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull. George Russell was sixth for Mercedes, Oscar Piastri seventh for McLaren, Liam Lawson eighth for Red Bull, Franco Colapinto ninth for Alpine and Arvid Lindblad tenth for Racing Bulls. Tight gaps in the top three underline how crucial track position will be at the Madring, setting the grid for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix and shaping teams’ tyre and race strategies.
