Jimmy Kimmel Moves James Talarico Interview Off ABC After FCC Pressure

tvSep 10, 2026723,883

Jimmy Kimmel announced that his planned interview with Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico will not air on ABC and will instead be posted to YouTube after what Kimmel described as Federal Communications Commission threats. Kimmel said the FCC has threatened him, his show, ABC, its affiliates and local stations over guest bookings, a change he contrasted with more than 20 years of routinely interviewing candidates. Multiple reports and Kimmel’s comments linked the pressure to FCC chair Brendan Carr’s enforcement push. This is at least the second time this year a late-night interview with Talarico has been moved off broadcast television, and advocacy group Free Press has publicly criticized Carr’s actions. The immediate effect is that ABC will not broadcast the segment; Kimmel plans to publish the interview online so viewers can still watch it.
