Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, at the company’s annual September product event on Apple’s Cupertino campus. The passport-size Duo opens and closes like a passport to double its screen area, becoming the company’s largest display when opened and its thinnest phone when closed, John Ternus said. Ternus, who became Apple’s chief executive on 1 September, called the Duo an “entirely new design” and said it will redefine the foldable experience. The device starts at $1,999 and will be available on 23 October. Apple also highlighted new AI features across its product line, including Siri AI integrations with over 300,000 apps and an Apple Reference Image feature that fingerprints photos to show they were captured by an iPhone. The company announced other devices at the event, including the iPhone 18 Pro starting at $1,199, the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299, and new AirPods described as 50% more noise cancelling and starting at $129.
