Patrick Havas, 38, of Canfield was arrested Sunday at the Canfield Fair after campaign and sheriff’s office officials say he lunged into a Mahoning County Democratic Party tent where Ohio gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton was speaking, knocking two people to the ground and injuring multiple attendees. Mahoning County records show Havas was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on two counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct. Deputies recovered two guns and a set of brass knuckles after the arrest; another report said he was carrying two pistols and a Taser. Acton’s security detail, including Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, detained Havas and campaign communications said Acton stayed to help attend to the injured. The Mahoning County Democratic Party chair condemned the incident, calling it reprehensible, and Ramaswamy communications director Connie Luck said political violence has no place in politics. Court records cited in reporting show Havas has prior theft and traffic charges. The episode comes as the Ohio gubernatorial race enters its final six weeks before the November general election and prompted statements from both Acton’s campaign and outside Republicans condemning the violence.

A former Republican operative, previously charged with sex offenses, donated $10,000 to Ramaswamy. Amy Acton-called it out. So the operative’s brother, armed with guns and a taser, tried to attack Acton-hurting bystanders Rather than back down, Acton-a doctor-went to treat the injured victims Hero
