Trevor Story delivered a 10th-inning walk-off single to left, giving the Boston Red Sox a 9-8 extra-innings win over the Seattle Mariners. Boston rallied from an 8-5 deficit: Cal Raleigh’s leadoff solo in the seventh made it 8-5, Story hit a two-run double off the Green Monster in the bottom of the eighth, and Ceddanne Rafaela’s sacrifice fly in the ninth tied the game. Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 top of the 10th, then Nick Sogard moved the ghost runner to third with a sacrifice bunt before Story’s bases-loaded single from former Red Sox reliever Cooper Criswell ended it. Story finished 2 for 5 with three RBI in his second game off the injured list; Roman Anthony went 2 for 4 with a walk and Mickey Gasper hit a game-tying solo in his first at-bat after being recalled. The Red Sox had squandered multiple two-run leads earlier and saw their bullpen allow four runs with two outs in the sixth, but interim manager Chad Tracy called Story’s hit a “big moment and a huge win.”
