BBC has published a gallery of images from the Italian Grand Prix at Monza as Formula 1 teams gather at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for this weekend's race. Monza has hosted more Formula 1 races than any other circuit, staging grands prix in all but one year since the inaugural 1950 season; it was absent only in 1980 for renovation. Located in a royal park and surrounded by woodland, Monza is known as the cathedral of speed and is the spiritual home of Ferrari and the devoted tifosi. The circuit was where the first world championship was decided 76 years ago and last year hosted Max Verstappen's fastest-ever qualifying lap in F1. Across decades Monza has produced thrilling finishes, Ferrari glory, title wins, controversy and tragedy, and the gallery traces those moments through historic and recent photographs.
