sportsJul 22, 202617268

Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the 2026 World Cup. Broadcasts in North America averaged more than 60 million viewers for the final, with Fox averaging 38.9 million and Telemundo averaging 23.9 million, which together equal roughly 62.8 million U.S. viewers; some reports put the combined U.S. audience at about 66.4 million. Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is publicly considering his international future after the final defeat, and Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister posted a long, emotional Instagram message reflecting on Argentina’s run to the final. Media outlets including Sports Media Watch described the television audience as the largest non-Super Bowl sports audience in the U.S. since the 1994 Olympics. The viewing figures underline the tournament’s unusually large North American TV reach, spanning both English and Spanish broadcasts and prompting immediate coverage of player futures and reactions.

It must be cool to watch sports other people care about. It seemed like everyone was having fun with the world cup. Anyway, one of the maybe 3 people I've talked to about extreme sports on here unfollowed me for reasons unknown, so I guess I'll post about the X Games this weekend into the void.
