Trea Turner hit two home runs, a two-run shot and a three-run blast, and drove in five runs as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-7 at Citizens Bank Park. Turner’s three-run homer came just inside the left-field foul pole and was the 200th home run of his career; he also hit the 300th double of his career in the first inning. The Phillies totaled five home runs in the game en route to the win. Turner had a rough night in the field, committing his third error in four games and 15th of the season, and misplaying three other balls that were scored base hits; one misplay in the sixth allowed a Dodger run to score and another occurred in the ninth. Manager Don Mattingly defended Turner, saying Turner cares about defense and that the team will ride with him. Turner is 33 years old and has seven years left on his contract; the club may consider moving him to the outfield next season if defensive struggles continue. Over his last 27 games Turner is hitting .324 with seven homers, 19 RBIs and a .360 on-base percentage, making his offense timely even as his defense remains a concern.

Not sure I have ever seen a single baseball game like the one that Trea Turner has played tonight. Some of the worst defense at shortstop you will ever see. And also the Phillies' best player by a lot.

I get that Turner can be an important bat but it's time for the Phillies to think about using Sosa as a defensive replacement in the late innings. Last night I think Turner hit in the 7th inning. IMHO Sosa should have been in the field for the 8th & 9th inning. Especially with a 5+ run lead

Trea Turner has three misplays in the field tonight. Only one of them was scored an error, but clearly in his own head defensively. Not sure what the Phillies can do, because he's started to hit and they need his bat.
