Having previously worked in the newspaper business I think the real story is that they stopped making money when classified ads and big print ads for local stores dried up. Blame everything from the Walmartification of local economies to Craigslist and FB Marketplace.

Svengoolie is showing the movie DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, which begins with the various kaiju all held captive by the Japanese military on a secure, secluded island. Honestly, I don't know why they don't just have Rodan mastermind an elaborate escape plan. Rodan's the thinker.
