U.S. Strikes Iranian Missile and Drone Sites

newsJun 26, 202654258

U.S. forces struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites on Friday in retaliation for an Iranian drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely as it exited the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command said the strikes were a "powerful response" and targeted sites along the Iranian coast and Qeshm Island; a senior U.S. official said four sites were hit using six U.S. military aircraft. The strikes followed President Trump’s warning that the drone attack violated the ceasefire and came after CENTCOM and other U.S. officials linked the ship strike to Iran. Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned any further U.S. strikes would trigger a broader Iranian response. Ship-tracking data and reporting showed fewer vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz after the initial attack, and U.S. officials said the strikes "do not signal a return to major combat operations, at least for now."
