A small aircraft struck the CITIC Tower, also known as China Zun, Beijing's tallest skyscraper, on Friday evening June 26, sending debris and plane parts onto streets below and prompting the evacuation of the building. Eyewitness footage and videos show debris falling along the tower's side and small fires near the building's east entrance; police cordoned off the area and sealed roads around the Financial District. Multiple posts identify the plane as a two-seat sport aircraft operated by Shuangyue General Aviation Beijing and name the type as an SA 60L Aurora; one post named the pilot as Liu Junhua and gave takeoff and return times. Casualty status was unclear in initial reports and authorities have not released a confirmed casualty or damage toll. Media outlets including CNN and The New York Times covered the incident and local officials remain on scene handling the response.
