Dormition Cathedral at Kyiv Pechersk Lavra set on fire
The Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was struck overnight by a Geran-2 drone at 01:50, igniting a fire that burned through the cathedral roof and parts of the monastery complex, the SBU said. At least six people were injured, residential buildings in Kyiv were damaged, and monks evacuated ancient icons and relics from the site. The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site founded in 1051 that houses saints' relics and Baroque churches, prompted an immediate Ukrainian appeal to UNESCO and officials vowed to repair the damage.
