watchOS 27 drops support for Series 9, Ultra 1 and SE 2
Apple confirmed watchOS 27 will not install on Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra first generation, Apple Watch SE second generation, and several older models. The update will be supported only on Apple Watch Series 10 and later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and Apple Watch SE 3 and later, leaving three-year-old Series 9 units ineligible. Owners of Series 9, original Ultra, and SE 2 will not receive the new watchOS 27 features or security updates unless they upgrade their hardware.
Apple is dropping support for 4 generations of Apple Watch models with watchOS 27. If you own a three-year-old Apple Watch Series 9 or the original Apple Watch Ultra, no watchOS 27 for you. Lots of iPad models getting dropped too 🤯 www.theverge.com/news/946147/...
it looks like Apple's website was wrong, as people are reporting being able to install watchOS 27 on the Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra. There's still a lot of models being dropped, though www.theverge.com/news/946147/...
M1 iPads are still safe. 😉 The supported devices list published by Apple is a mess to understand. But the iPad Air 4th gen is the A14 one, so it even goes below M1. Same for iPad Pro, the 12.9” 4th gen and 11” 2nd gen are the A12Z ones.
