Supreme Court rejects Florida's bid to sue California and Washington
The Supreme Court rejected Florida's bid to sue California and Washington over those states issuing commercial driver's licenses to undocumented truck drivers. Florida argued the licenses violated federal immigration law and harmed interstate commerce, asking the Court to resolve the dispute between states. By declining to take the case, the Court left California and Washington's licensing policies in place and avoided setting a national rule on licensing noncitizen truck drivers. The decision matters for state control over driver licensing, immigration enforcement, and the trucking industry's labor pool.
Thomas, joined by Alito, dissents from SCOTUS' refusal to consider Florida's legal attack on California and Washington for policies providing driver's licenses "to illegal aliens who cannot read English." (California and Washington do not have these policies.) www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...
It's true that, from time to time, California and Washington have inadvertently given commercial driver's licenses to immigrations who lack worth authorization and don't speak English. Guess which other state has, too? Florida. Which is suing CA and WA over this. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/22...
Why the fuck is my state wasting our money on this shit when our public schools are broke & our teachers are the lowest paid teachers in the country? There are much better things we could & should be spending our money on.
Dear Alito (and Thomas): This was a *joke*, not a suggestion. bsky.app/profile/rodd...
They don’t even pretend to respect or stick to facts anymore. Acting like Trump and just making s*!t up if it bolsters their argument.
