New Star Fox game shocks fans, soundtrack added to Nintendo Music
Nintendo announced a new Star Fox entry, unveiling redesigned versions of Fox McCloud and supporting characters. At the same time, Nintendo added multiple Star Fox soundtrack tracks to Nintendo Music, including themes from Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Zero. The title is the franchise's most visible console release since Star Fox Zero in 2016, marking a major return for the series. The combined game reveal and soundtrack release makes core themes immediately accessible and highlights art direction and music as central to this relaunch.
It's always "Star Fox Zero is bad because i don't get the controls" and never "Star Fox Zero is bad because the Arwing burns blue both while in atmosphere and in space unlike other games where it's red while in atmosphere and blue in space"
Miyamoto was too busy looking at the gamepad he didn't realize
Jon I was literally thinking just this after watching the comparison video Something I never noticed till today lmao
star fox zero was good Because of the controls
...I've played SF64 dozens of times since 1997 and somehow never noticed this. Huh.
Miyamoto came in and dictated that only Mario is allowed to glow red
I've never played a star fox game but for every thousand pictures I see of the main characters or the blue fox there's one of this sort of dog mechanic who looks cool. she must have only been in a bad game or had zero personality
The Spaniel’s name is Fay, and she’s actually really great! She’s the daughter of oligarchs, but she said “fuck that shit” and instead of being a draft dodger, joined up with Fox and crew as a mercenary to do her part to defend her home & the Lylat system from Andross and his hired guns, Star Wolf!
So, they're from Star Fox 2, which was shuddered once they moved the project to the 64 and shifted to remaking the original SNES game! Star Fox 2 was mostly complete, but Nintendo didn't think releasing it made any sense - not at the end of the SNES' life cycle. Shame, but I get it! HOWEVER..!
there's also some insanely cool looking panther guy I've seen exactly twice
They're from a failed project game that was supposed to come out shortly after the original Star Fox, but it never happened I believe? So, they're from a non-game x'D
I don't know much about Star Fox but I think it's because she's from Star Fox 2, which went unreleased until that Super Nintendo retro console came out.
Miyu and Fay were from a cancelled sequel to the SNES original Star Fox. That sequel being Star Fox 2. The game would eventually get an official release in 2017.
Witness the fateful battle that took place a few years before the events of #StarFox, involving the protagonist Fox’s father, James McCloud… Watch the Star Fox Direct: ninten.do/6019v3DI3
It's kind of insane how much longer this is than the few paragraphs you got in 64, and how little it actually adds. "Andross might still be here." Yeah that's why you're here? "I betrayed you for money!" No shit? No extra insight into the team's history or relationship, nothing. What a waste.
I'm excited to check this out!
i honestly kind of like the "show, don't tell" approach to this
New Star Fox is coming! Excited for the game, so drew my awesome TEAM on our own lil' adventure hehe. Love Star Fox 64, so excited for the remake! 💛✨ Team Low Light ready to save the Lylat System! 🌟
My kitsune form, along with @bumblybun.bsky.social @funsizemini.bsky.social @shiversthecat.bsky.social @pikab0i.bsky.social @shyblacksheep.bsky.social Also, I used a 3D model to trace the general shape of the Arwings, I was not gonna draw that free hand that many times haha
Raaah!! Let’s go team!! Seriously tho absolutely love this so much Loh!! This team is unstoppable!
Some people are genuinely acting like new Star Fox looks like this and it’s funny as Hell to me 💀
Dang, Mighty Boosh reference in big 2026? Respect.
how dare you put crack fox on my timeline
I seen some people take it too personally. I can see why some aren’t fans but others are taking it waaaay out there
I would explode with excitement if they added a new playable pal character, Sonic! In his own special Sonic Ship! But it's ugly Sonic, straight from being rescued by the Chip n Dale movie. We were robbed by not having the ugly Sonic movie, his weird charms would fit in with the taxidermed star crew
To me; The look of the New Star Fox looks both BAD & GOOD at the same time. Sometimes it looks good at a certain angle, sometimes it looks BAD at a certain angle.
I think Star Fox could do well with a mission based structure. Like have this mercenary unit actually take on jobs
brings to mind the tumblr post [which never had a source, afaik] that talks about nintendo just refusing to acknowledge what a Bounty Hunter actually is, for Metroid
Missions in between crisis events, basically building up your reputation in the system, could even change what characters you can encounter or what sort of Arwing upgrades you can get.
To be fair, outside of the comics based on the SNES game the plot *does* have them outright being hired (hence, for example, the bill to General Pepper in 64) But yes, an in-game mechanic of taking on missions for money & covering costs/buying upgrades & whatnot would be cool and fitting.
Okay but now I'm thinking of a StarFox game that's got an XCom base and team management layer to it. Could even open space for new or customized characters to sub in as squadron members on missions.
With armored core 6 style chapters, that branch depending on who you take jobs from
I am now officially used to the new star fox designs, but I haven't gotten over the voices yet
Peppy's voice is pretty good and slippy's is okay at best, but fox and falcos voices are soooooo generic. No charm was retained
the designs looked a little off in a vacuum but with the whole vibe they're going for they work really well I think
Pigma's is perfect. He sounds like the kind of guy who'd upsell you on a used can of coke.
This Star Fox shit is serious people at the GYM were discusing how much they dislike the designs (I'm still a fan)
I think the designs are fine, I'm just tired of the same damn story bro.
The designs re honestly growing on me. They're not bad. Oldheads should be realizing they're callbacks to the old '93 puppets. I just want a proper SEQUEL to 64😭
I think the new designs have quite a lot of charm, I just wish they use it on a new story or hell even a prequel story
