artApr 25, 202615216,243

Today's 'Odd' roundup features mostly photography alongside sketches and small sculptures. Contributors shared architectural oddities like Casa Batllò (image by @billmontei.bsky.social), unusual wildlife and celestial moments such as the Aardvark Moon (@davesadventures.bsky.social), and playful roadside curiosities like a cow-on-a-pole lookout (@alinagrafik.eurosky.social). Infrared experiments, monochrome street snaps and unexpected landscape details round out the submissions, emphasizing quirky juxtapositions and objects or creatures seen out of place.

Love love love the Gaudi architecture. ♥️

Emerald Iguana Inn in Ojai, California, originally constructed as an apartment building in 1906. I've always believed it to be a Gaudi homage.

I visited almost all Gaudí houses and they are marvelous. The insides are just as captivating.

Puts me in mind of the balconies on this building, in Milan...

Antoni Gaudí was on the same level as Michelangelo Buonarroti. A true genius. Barcelona is worth a visit for his works alone.

It's beautiful, and pictures don't even do it justice. Everything inside feels perfect to the touch, the light flows beautifully throughout the rooms. If you like good design, you need to go here.

Go to Barcelona for a week before you die. Your soul needs it.

micbus.bsky.social6

We stayed directly across the street this past December - Barcelona is amazing!

Juliet Domvile6

It's gorgeous! But the second time I looked at it, the balconies looked like little cartoon faces. Teletubbies. Now I can't unsee that. It's the angle of the photo.

Arent the buildings just beautiful there? I was there about 10 years ago and I remember them

Great photo of it. I especially love that it shows the roof. Our guide told us it's a dragon, in honor of St. George—the patron saint of Barcelona.

Barcelona is on my bucket list. Read about Sagrada Família, a couple years ago, and now I have to see it!!! (Heard the food is fabulous too…😉)

Daniel B.3

A bit gaudy I’d say ;-)

No Wingnuts Allowed3

Barcelona is a marvelous city to visit. I went there with my mother and my sister and we were enchanted.

Ricardo3

Una de las obras de arte más bellas que he tenido el placer de visitar.

This is gorgeous! Shows what you can do with decorative architecture when you don't have a heavy winter season. Around here the architecture makes me think too many kids never outgrew their LEGOs.

Phil3

I love touring the old architecture of Barcelona.

donniedonuts3

how wonderful is this... 🧚‍♂️

Paula3

My gosh Gaudi was ahead of his time!! Wonderful.

Hetkey3

Looks like that one time I bought a house and peeled the wallpaper only to find that previous occupants had painted the place a dozen different colors.

Thanks for the Fishes!3

It took a lot for Antoni Gaudi to be able to get his buildings approved. Imagine if more creative architectures like him were allowed to create. Art nouveau was a beautiful movement that embraced and incorporated nature and life into art. www.gaudi-foundation.org/about-gaudis...

Wonderful photo, Bill. I love both Gaudi and Barcelona. 😊

back when architecture wasn't just straight lines. All the details from the harlequin mask balconies to the facade decorations are engaging

Tracy2

I loved touring the house, and many other Gaudi projects in Barcelona.

MaxxB1ade2

Aw, my Mum would have coveted that building just because it had purple flowers on it.

Nowhere 🏳️‍🌈2

Bit gaudí if you ask me (I love it)

Windy B.2

What could I possibly add that hasn’t already been said…yet another gorgeous capture, Bill.

gman8990.bsky.social2

The balconies are watching you! 😂😂

Satan2

We were there about 4 months ago....Barcelona kicks ASS!

Laura J2

The dragon on the roof!

emily404.bsky.social2

Interesting architecture...sort of a 'Beauty and the Beast' kind of theme.💕

JVaughn2

Incredible building - we attended a private event there once. Must see in Barcelona.
