Koji Fox admits using generative AI during Fanfest panel
Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, Final Fantasy XIV English localization lead, admitted at FanFest that he used generative AI to create images shown in his panel and joked about AI twice. He displayed a QR code linking to the AI-generated images about 3 hours 58 minutes into the Day Two recording, and attendees filed complaints through the official FanFest feedback form specifically citing his AI use. The episode matters because localization roles are widely seen as vulnerable to AI-driven job cuts, and Fox's admission increases pressure on Square Enix to clarify AI policy and justify generative AI in creative work.
Hey, if you're pissed at Michael-Christopher Koji Fox for using AI for his presentation, here's something actionable - the official feedback form for Fanfest. Roughly 3h:58min in the 2nd Day video on Youtube if you want to verify the QR code and not scan a random code or link. sqex.to/3dyLE
I will add it's a bit of a long survey as it's also gauging excitement for the new expansion, but it's all the more reason why it might be valuable to respond how the man responsible for part of the music, writing and translation work is completely fine with using AI could affect that.
I straight up told them I'd cancel my subscription if they keep using that junk so. There's that.
if we can make the CEO fear for his fucking life live on stage we can do it to Koji
I really appreciate you posting this. The discussion on my timeline is somehow just completely misunderstanding what happened in both directions. I don't think that he was forced at gunpoint to use it nor do I think he "loves ai". I think he's severely out of touch (cotd)
Oh damn, he should be better than that
THANK YOU for putting the link in the alt text! I don't have a working smart phone, so that means I can do my part now ♥
