Final Fantasy XIV will prioritize players' physical region over virtual data center for matchmaking, with the change scheduled to arrive in patch 7.5x. Party Finder will adopt the same-region rules, allowing players to form groups across data centers inside the same region. The update reduces latency for matched players and will make filling large scale content like Dynamis easier. The change does not enable cross-region visiting, so players still cannot join groups across different global regions.
