Square Enix expanded Final Fantasy XIV's free trial to include Shadowbringers, letting new players play through A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers up to level 80. The trial now removes playtime restrictions and raises the level cap from 70 to 80 without requiring a subscription. That change gives new players access to Shadowbringers' main story, jobs, and endgame content so they can evaluate buying expansions without an upfront cost.

every new expac they add to ff14 puts hrothgals closer and closer to being part of the free trial. then and only then, will I play the game that will probably be mostly dead by that point.

FFXIV on Switch 2 having a separate subscription sucks obviously, but an officially supported handheld version with a free trial that includes Shadowbringers has the potential to introduce a LOT of folks to that game
