Jon Ossoff wins Georgia Senate race

politicsNov 3, 2026989,624

Jon Ossoff defeated Republican Rep. Mike Collins in the Georgia U.S. Senate race, a victory called by The Associated Press and described by outlets as an easy reelection for the incumbent. Ossoff was the only incumbent Senate Democrat defending a seat in a state President Trump carried in 2024. Collins ran with a Trump endorsement but faced scrutiny over ties to family and former staffers who espoused white nationalist and antisemitic views and continued to embrace false 2020 election claims. Democrats credited Ossoff's reputation for strong constituent services and his national profile from his 2017 House special election run and his 2021 Senate runoff win; he has said he will not run for president in 2028. The result keeps this battleground seat in Democratic hands and removes a marquee pickup opportunity Republicans had targeted this cycle.
