Security guard who protected Nigel Farage jailed for rape

newsOct 30, 202619746

Ryan Dinnage, a 32-year-old security operative who accompanied Reform UK leader Nigel Farage on walkabouts in Llandudno, Waterlooville, Worthing and Downham Market this spring, was convicted and jailed for rape. Thames Valley police say Dinnage entered a caravan and raped a woman in the early hours of 16 May 2022 at the Royal Windsor horse show; he was reported later that day, arrested the next day, and in July was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. Reform UK acknowledged Dinnage provided protection and said a third-party contractor had assured the party he had been vetted, adding that the party ceased using him once it found out. The episode has prompted questions about vetting after it emerged Dinnage was charged in 2025 while having already been deployed on the campaign trail. A Labour spokesperson demanded Farage explain when Reform UK became aware that a man charged with rape had been allowed to interact directly with the public and asked what steps the party had taken to prevent a repeat. The article notes wider security context around Farage, including his large security team, past threats, and a reported £5m gift from Christopher Harborne used to pay for his security instead of accepting taxpayer protection.
