Nicki Minaj joined President Donald Trump onstage in Port Huron, Michigan, and stumped for Republican candidates ahead of the 3 November midterm elections. Wearing a gold Gucci suit, Minaj praised Trump saying "He's given us a future to look forward to" and led the crowd in chanting Trump's name and the names of Republican candidates. Trump praised her appearance onstage, calling her beautiful and saying "She gets it. She's smart," and earlier in the rally had made a crude remark referencing her before inviting her up. Minaj traveled to Michigan on Air Force One and filmed a video aboard the president's plane with an aide that was later posted online, play-acting an interview for the White House press secretary role. The appearance comes as Michigan's Senate race between Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers is tight, and as former president Barack Obama held a rally with El-Sayed days earlier. In the rally, Trump also attacked El-Sayed's Muslim faith, alleging he would "invite jihadists," a line El-Sayed has called Islamophobic and part of a distraction from policy impacts.
