King County Elections confirmed that 92 undelivered mail-in ballots were found in a dumpster at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood on October 22, 2026, days before the Oct. 26 Election Day. A voter called the KCE customer service line to report discarded mail; staff investigated and located two USPS bins containing the ballots, which KCE recovered shortly after. KCE Chief of Staff Kendall Hodson provided the agency's account of the discovery. The recovery occurred amid heightened scrutiny of mail-ballot handling as jurisdictions prepare to process ballots in the lead-up to Election Day.
