Trump rallies in Wichita for Roger Marshall, Star fact-checks his claims

politicsOct 19, 202652656

President Donald Trump spoke Monday in Park City, Kansas, near Wichita, to campaign for Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, who faces a competitive reelection contest against Democrat Adam Hamilton. The Kansas City Star is live fact-checking several of Trump’s claims from the rally, including his assertion that “zero illegal immigrants have been admitted into the United States” in the past 17 months; the Star noted Border Patrol apprehensions fell from about 86,000 in Trump’s first year to 956,000 in Biden’s last year and that Trump ended the practice called catch and release. Trump also claimed he brought in more than $22 trillion in foreign investment; the White House tracker lists about $11.3 trillion and Bloomberg Economics estimates credible commitments nearer $7 trillion. Trump said auto manufacturing is at an all-time high with more car plants being built than ever; the Star noted U.S. auto manufacturing is not at record levels and the country added about two dozen major assembly plants over four decades. The New York Times found Marshall sued more than 700 former patients, resulting in at least 81 arrests after missed court dates, charged 18 percent annual interest on unpaid bills and in some cases garnished wages and bank accounts. Trump defended Marshall by saying Marshall was “mandated by law” to sue patients; the Star and other outlets say no federal or state law requires doctors to sue patients or requires debt collectors to seek arrest warrants for missed court appearances. Reporters from the Kansas City Star continued to follow and publicly check Trump’s statements during the visit.

he despises Jewish people. the president is an antisemite. yet we're never supposed to say so, or discuss how that might be a factor in the growth of antisemitism.

oh, this brings back memories of the summer of 2025 when I got into big arguments on here about Trump's use of this particular slur. I was told "no one still uses that as a slur, it's too old-fashioned, so he must not have meant it," when... he's a very old-fashioned bigot!

Coach Finstock140

Guys we should turn the page on this. Time to get back to the business of the country. Don't worry about the President of the United States and an entire political party saying the most gutter antisemitic shit into a microphone like it's no big deal. That's fine.

Kyle Haynes55

Congrats again to everyone who’s ever taken Republican hand wringing about antisemitism at face value.

So now it’s a crime to quote a little Shakespeare, is it

Sydney Bauer29

These guys do real deep antisemitism on the daily

Cai : go see DIGGER29

much like the svalbard seed bank but for ancient and obscure slurs

Maladroithe20

I love that he’s reminding us that he’s not just antisemitic but he is also old as shit

Joe Uchill13

This isn't the first time he's used Shylock. ADL even demanded an apology earlier this term. So, it's not like he's unaware of the baggage the term carries.

remember: the mainstream press can't call him a racist until he says the N word and can't call him an antisemite until he says an anti-Jewish slur
