On October 18 Ukrainian long-range strike drones hit the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, triggering a large fire visible in video and confirmed by regional authorities. The terminal, located inside the Great Port of St. Petersburg, has a tank farm of 32 storage tanks with 442,000 cubic meters total capacity and handles up to 12.5 million tons of petroleum products per year. Local photos and videos showed the tank farm burning as of 7:30 a.m. Authorities said the overnight strikes also struck the VKontakte data center in Novosergiyevka and the nearby 330 kV Vostochnaya electrical substation, leaving some residents without power. The VKontakte facility houses four data halls, about 640 server racks and more than 20,000 servers; users reported outages between roughly 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Regional officials reported additional hits on a cable-stayed bridge and other port infrastructure; the extent of structural damage to the bridge remains unknown.
