Street Fighter (2026) reviews praise its action but slam the story
Anyway. My birthday is this weekend and every year around this time I watch Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. That is what I will be doing when the new film releases.
This movie is such a fucking masterpiece one of if not the best video game adaptation to ever exist
I recently re-watched the original live action, and frankly I'd rather watch it again. Comparing prices, maybe I'll pick up the 1994 film Blu-ray to pair with the @rifftrax.com "Just the jokes" audio. The VHS rip off Archive.org is fun, but also very rough.
Happy imminent birthday, fellow Libra.
Damn. Did they release it on a Tuesday or somethin???
The animated movie is still so good compared to all the SF content that’s come out since. Even the janky dub fits well.
"I love how stupid the new Street Fighter movie looks, this is the best way to do it" is from people who mash buttons if you've ever actually cared, if you've ever actually *tried*, there is only one Street Fighter movie, and it's this one
You're correct, but I will always go to bat for the OG live-action movie, though. Steven E. De Souza knew exactly what he was making, & the fact that people still think they know better than him proves him right, since he called out that reaction in the literal commentary track made back in the day
World mode on Street fighter 6 was fantastic and being able to do it all with a character made in the incredibly robust create a character mode was even better. All these super serious scenes with my dude with popeye arms.
I watched the animated street fighter movie for the first time earlier this year. The fight choreography with the 90s grunge music. a combo that I didn’t realize I needed. The Chun-Li fight in her apartment so good
THIS is the take I haven't been able to articulate succinctly about my annoyance with this movie existing. If you've truly played the games and challenged yourself to get better, the movie just looks and feels hollow.
Best live action adaptation of a fighting game will always be the 90s Mortal Kombat movie because it strikes that balance of goofy and serious with cool af fights.
All the Street Fighter movies are good. Especially the bad ones! But yeah “Street Fighter 2: The Motion Picture” is the best.
