Rain delays Singapore Grand Prix sprint, night sprint start disrupted

sportsOct 10, 20266577

A heavy downpour at the Marina Bay Street Circuit forced the FIA to postpone the scheduled sprint start that was due to go lights out at 11:00 local time. Max Verstappen was set to start the sprintrace from pole but the FIA delayed the start because of standing water in turn 2 and turn 3 and said officials would wait until the track was dry enough to begin. Broadcasters showed Verstappen sheltering under a tent while teams and officials monitored conditions; no revised start time had been announced in the live coverage. Organizers kept the live blog open and told spectators to remain on standby as rain continued to fall over the circuit.
