Russian strike damages Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, halts traffic

newsOct 3, 202642224

A Russian strike hit Kyiv’s Northern (Pivnichnyi) Bridge on the morning of October 3, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, damaging the road surface and overhead trolleybus power lines and blocking traffic from the left to the right bank of the Dnipro. The attack follows repeated strikes on the Southern Bridge over the previous days that forced metro and vehicle travel across that span to be suspended. Klitschko wrote that emergency services were en route and warned intensified strikes were tearing Kyiv apart; the city’s defence council held a crisis meeting after the Southern Bridge attacks. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian strikes show Moscow is abandoning rules of war and targeting bridges, data centres, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure. With two major Dnipro crossings now disrupted, Kyiv faces major travel and logistics disruptions for its roughly three million residents and further strain on public transit and emergency response.
