Dennis Haskins, the actor best known for portraying Principal Richard Belding on the teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, has died at 75, his agent said. The agent, Jay Schachter of Stewart Talent, called the death a "tragic loss" and said Haskins loved his fans; the cause and manner of death were unavailable. Haskins originated the role on Disney Channel’s Good Morning, Miss Bliss in 1988 before NBC retooled the show as Saved by the Bell, which ran from 1989 to 1993; he reprised Belding on Saved by the Bell: The New Class from 1993 to 2000. Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Haskins attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, acted in campus productions, and was a founding member of the community theater group the Harlequins. His early career included TV appearances on Magnum, P.I. and The Twilight Zone and work in music management, and he continued to appear in film and television after Saved by the Bell, including a role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
