sportsSep 27, 202655871

A'ja Wilson scored 38 points and grabbed 16 rebounds on 15-for-19 shooting as the Las Vegas Aces routed the Indiana Fever 102-85 in Game 1 of their WNBA playoff series. Wilson added multiple defensive plays and efficient shooting, hitting 2-for-2 from three and making all five free throws in the game. The Aces shot nearly 60 percent as a team while the Fever committed 17 turnovers, a gap that helped build Las Vegas's double-digit lead. The performance extended Wilson's historical run: she is now the only player in WNBA history to record 35-plus points and 15-plus rebounds in multiple playoff games. Wilson enters the postseason already viewed as a leading MVP candidate; she has three WNBA titles and is positioned to chase a fifth MVP. Indiana gets Game 2 at home Tuesday night with a chance to force a decisive Game 3 back in Las Vegas.

I love how A'ja was startled by the pass, yet managed to play it well!

I wish the MNBA appreciated the artistry of basketball as much as the WNBA does.

The missed FT took this down to 86.1 TS% but 38 pts in 35 minutes. Outlandish. bsky.app/profile/carn...

Please shut down all that crazy chatter around who should be MVP.

She's the best player in the league and it's not particularly close.

Thats Balenciaga Belt To Ass.. Courtesy of A’ja Wilson. Best player in the world..2nd best is in a far off galaxy. Doesn’t matter. Kelsey Mitchell has to be better for Fever to have a chance. CC needs counters off the bounce. She’s got no bag. Needs a ball screen every time. 34% career 3pt%.

A'ja Wilson is playing like the best player in the WNBA. Makes a 3-pointer, then comes down and drills a contested jumper. She's up to 30 points and 14 rebounds. Aces have pulled ahead by 23pts, late 3Q.

At half, the Mystics lead the Dream 41-36. The Mystics have led most of the way and by as many as 11, and they're holding Atlanta to 29% shooting. Atlanta has stayed in it by forcing 12 Mystics turnovers. Shakira Austin leads D.C. with 9 pts, 12 rebs and 3 assists. @theixsports.bsky.social #WNBA

ATL is...not playing their best at the half lol. And even still, they're only down 5. A few quick things for the second half, Angel...you're not strong enough to battle Shakira and Lauren under the rim. Kick the ball out! And guys...Make 👏🏾Your 👏🏾Layups! Everyone is missing easy shots. Stop it!🗣 #WNBA

Angel is going to have to take some jump shots tonight and hope for the best. The Mystics are so tall and it’s a tough battle down low.

Put Madina in with Angel.
