Dante Moore carted off after hit; Dylan Raiola rallies Oregon

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was carted off the field and taken by ambulance after a second-quarter hit from USC linebacker Desman Stephens II that struck Moore’s head as he attempted to slide. Stephens was flagged for targeting, ejected from the game, and his actions drew condemnation from Oregon coach Dan Lanning, who called the play “disgusting,” while several Ducks players said they believed the hit was intentional. Moore appeared immediately knocked out, was stretchered off, and was taken to a nearby hospital; Lanning later said Moore was recovering and “has the ability to move.” The incident sparked an on-field scuffle between the teams and a separate altercation in the stands in which a USC fan wearing a No. 8 jersey traded punches with an Oregon fan. Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola replaced Moore and helped Oregon rally to a 41-27 victory, with the Ducks totaling 504 yards in the game. USC coach Lincoln Riley checked in with Lanning after the game; Stephens drew heavy criticism on broadcast and social media for his actions and celebration after the hit.

Bad look. Awful look. Classless and crass. On Lincoln Riley’s blind eye to the antics that followed the scary hit on Dante Moore — and how much that says about the state of USC football. www.latimes.com/sports/usc/s...
