September Harvest Full Moon peaks, sits in Aries

natureSep 26, 20261514,005

The Harvest Full Moon reaches peak fullness at 17:49 BST on Saturday 26 September, and will rise shortly afterward for much of the UK, appearing almost completely full through Saturday evening. This full Moon is the Harvest Moon, the full Moon nearest the autumn equinox, which fell on Wednesday this year; the Royal Observatory Greenwich also cites Corn Moon as a common name. Observers in many skies will see the Moon rising close to Saturn, and several sources note the Moon is in Aries for this peak. When the Moon rises it may look yellow, orange or reddish because its light passes through more of Earth’s atmosphere, and current forecasts give the best chance of clearer skies across southern and eastern parts of England while western areas, Scotland and Northern Ireland may see cloud and rain. Expect the exact moonrise times to vary by location; it will rise shortly after the moment of peak fullness and remain effectively full for the Saturday evening viewing window.
