Silent Hill: Townfall launches, players report terrifying stealth segments
It's really refreshing seeing shitey normal working class life depicted like this in a game, and a Silent Hill game no less. Pebble-dashed council flats, three-bar fires, Post Office counters, concrete shopping precincts. This must be how posh people felt playing Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

and no. silent hill is not a therapist. it is not a crucible. it has no intent to refine you. it is an actual monster that's trying to tear you apart don't confuse "what the narrative is doing" (a character goes through a trial and comes out changed) for "what the monster is trying to do"

The Alien Queen from Aliens isn't trying to teach Ripley to be a better mother or about the horrors of capitalist exploitation, even if that is part of the narrative.
