Gary "Angry" Anderson, frontman of Australian rock band Rose Tattoo, has died aged 79, his family and bandmates said. The ARIA Hall of Fame inductee suffered a cardiac arrest in August while on Rose Tattoo's European 50th anniversary tour and was admitted to a hospital in Germany; the band canceled a concert on 9 August and then called off the remainder of the European leg. Anderson died on Monday in Australia, surrounded by loved ones, the statement said. Anderson had a five-decade music career, achieving international chart success with his solo hit "Suddenly," and he worked as a television and film actor and a youth advocate. His life included controversy for anti-Islam views, the reports note. Born in Melbourne on August 5, 1947, Anderson grew up in Coburg; his early bands included Buster Brown, formed in 1973, before Rose Tattoo made its name with a raw, aggressive rock style.
