Ukrainian drone strike hits Moscow's Kapotnya oil refinery, two killed
🔥🔥 BREAKING: A major fire is burning at Moscow’s Kapotnya oil refinery following reports of a Ukrainian drone strike. The facility is Moscow’s only oil refinery and has a capacity of roughly 280,000 barrels per day. Another significant hit to Russia’s already strained refining system.
I hate the damage to our environment from these attacks. I also understand that Ukraine has no choice. 😢
Zelensky is playing his cards now, Trump.
Don't ya hate it when that happens? Somebody posted a chart yesterday showing that Ukraine's attacks on Russia didn't change gas prices, while Trump's Epstein Distraction has led to the current price spike. But I wouldn't mind paying more so Russia gets what it deserves.
You mean it had a capacity of 280,000 barrels a day
This war is more than an attack on Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting for democracy itself. Beyond Ukraine's borders, Russian drones keep entering European NATO airspace, and these incidents are becoming more frequent. If Ukraine falls, Russia will move beyond Ukraine.
And here is what Trump thinks of this, while not caring about his own country www.reuters.com/business/ene...
🔥🛢️BREAKING: A large-scale drone attack targeted Moscow and the Moscow region overnight, on the final day of Russia’s parliamentary elections. One of the most notable targets was the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, where a major fire is visible this morning.
/2. The refinery has a processing capacity of around 12 million tonnes of oil per year. It was last heavily struck on June 16 and 18, the refinery was forced to shut down. By August, it had reportedly managed to restart at only around one-third of capacity. Now it has been hit again.
Not an expert, but is that now how a Russian oil refinery normally looks?
Ballot day, refinery day. The Kremlin stages a vote and Ukraine delivers the only result that counts.
So nice to see Moscow burning and russia sinking (and gollum to be annulled soon) 🔥🔥🔥🥳
Well, here's some shiny sunday morning in the Mordor. 🥐 ☕
How much longer before Russia does what russia does and overthrows the current status quo through citizen revolution?
That's a lot of fire.
Burn - russia - burn! Slava Ukraini!
this is some fucking cinematic shit
Ukraine decided to interfere in an adversary's elections the old fashioned way.
Although not invited, Zelensky was determined not to be entirely left out of the proceedings.
Here’s what happens when you give Ukraine a vote in russia.
A plume for Mr.P here, there and everywhere! 😂
#SlavaUkraïni forever! Let's go. Fuck em all!
The fact that Ukraine is *still* focused solely on targeting military/support infrastructure, and has not stooped to Putin's level in committing war crimes against civilians continues to be very impressive to me. It takes a lot of discipline to not return in kind.
Too bad, so sad! Maybe vote better, Russia! #SlavaUkraini
In my opinion, these are the best pictures of the burning Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya this morning. 🔥💥
Different angle, also great!💙💛 bsky.app/profile/euan...
Fires of mordor burn strong. Let's keep it that way.
The smoke dragon is so awesome!
Yep, agree. A beautiful vulcano. 😍
"I love the smell of napalm in the morning!!"
I can even see a pelican flying ib two of those 🤗
Big night for Ukraine: the first combat use of Fire Point's FP-7 Pelican short-range ballistic missile, according to Zelenskyy. Meanwhile a massive drone attack on Moscow oblast hit the Kapotnya oil refinery. #explodey
Some weird reporting by the BBC: they’re leading on two alleged Russian deaths in the attack while skimming over the eight Ukrainians killed in a Russian attack.
Domestic ballistic reach plus refining capacity going up in smoke. Two things Moscow cant buy back with oil money it no longer earns.
Keep hitting Russian oil infrastructure & sooner or later they will buckle, either in the Kremlin or on the streets.
Seems to be some confusion on that. The Pelican ballistic missile is supposed to have a range of 200km. That won't reach Moscow. Either a Pelican missile was used with an extended range, or it was used at a closer target, or it was a Pelican drone? Either way, we'll learn soon.
Kapotnya isn't oblast. It's a Moscow district, 16km from the Kremlin, and its only refinery.
Fp 9 will be a game changer if they can produce large numbers
Every day now, whenever #Ukraine hit an oil refinery, I think of that quote from Trump asking Zelenskyy to stop hitting their refineries... I take each new strike on a refinery as a response to that, and I laugh SO hard because Trump and Putin deserve it. 😂
I’m old enough to remember when it was American ATACMS that was the long range missile that would save Ukraine. Then America sided sided with Russia and cut supply. Now Ukraine has its own alternative with the FP-7.
😎🔥 SBU, together with SBS, SSO, GUR and other components of AFU, struck Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district, which is located just 15 km from the Kremlin. Long-range drones of SBU's Alpha flew over 500 kilometers, overcame echeloned Russian air defense and successfully struck the plant.
Nice fireworks in times of Russian elections 🎇
Good work! maybe The DoTARD can whine some more.
In a dark time for America, seeing ruzzia burn is good for the soul. Thank you, Ukraine.
Ukraine 💙💛 you are winning against all odds.
The district is called Kapotnya, like in "kaputt"? Fitting.
❗️Ukrainian drones struck multiple targets across the Moscow region overnight. The AVT-6 unit at the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya was hit, while explosions and fires were reported at CHPP-22 near Lyubertsy and a logistics hub in Sofyino. Air defenses were active across the region. #Russia
Such great timing with the "elections" ongoing this weekend. Well done Ukraine!
Locations, UTM-grid, 10x10km^2 See some airports on the map, mentioned in other skeets.
This should become 🇷🇺 new normal until the war is over!
And Russian air defence was ready 🤣
Sending the scum a nice gift 🎁 Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦 💥
Soon the charade of the election will be over . Little putin will award himself 85% of the vote . Burning Russian refineries is the only language that matters .
The Modern Warehouse Technologies facility in Sofyino, Moscow region, has completely burned down following the overnight attack. The warehouse complex was among several sites hit around Moscow. #Russia
Debris from an FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile was found about 20 km from Moscow, indicating the missile reached the Russian capital’s immediate vicinity. #Russia
Wer Putin wählt, wählt den Krieg. Wer Putins Parteien in Deutschland wählt, wählt auch den Krieg.
Ukrainian drones struck Russia’s Kapotnya oil refinery in Moscow, the capital’s only refinery and a major energy facility capable of processing roughly 280,000 barrels of oil per day. Ukraine has inflicted an estimated $13.5 billion in losses on Russia's oil industry since mid-2025.
The only pain the United States feels is when oil is impacted otherwise they're just spectators watching the wars they started.
This could have all been avoided had Putin just stopped his insane war. The toll on the environment is incalculable at this point let alone the toll in lives.
Capital's only refinery, and it burns. 13.5 billion isnt a bill, its a down payment on what the war actually costs. More refineries, less runway for the war budget.
Moscow mayor says Moscow oil refinery hit in Ukrainian drone attack and claims that, since yesterday, more than 1,600 drones have been "repelled" over Russia; describes the attack as "unprecedented" and an attempt "to disrupt the [parliamentary] election."
Pretty sure nothing could disrupt an "election" when we all knew what the outcome was going to be 🤔
Ha. ‘Disrupt the election’. Good one.
An "election" where Russia jailed the main opposition leader then murdered him there. Where Russia outlawed the only anti war party.
Yes the election for candidates who did not use microsoft fonts.
I think they are more competent at repelling voters than repelling drones if truth be known.
The BBC leads with this? "Two killed in 'massive' Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow region, Russia says" Not this? "Ukrainian officials meanwhile said eight people, including three children, had been killed in Russian attacks in the Kyiv and Sumy regions on Saturday." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I'm not sure what Russian officials think they get out of claiming astronomical numbers of repelled drones. It mostly just signals that they have failed to stop Ukrainian drone production.
Surprised he didn't mention that Russian air defense also destroyed five self-propelled dragons and dispersed eleven autonomous swarms of mosquitoes carrying NATO biological weapons. Those dastardly Ukrainians would stop at nothing to prevent Russians from exercising their constitutional rights
Putin complaining his election is being disrupted 😂😂😂
BAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DISRUPT THE ELECTION AAAAAHAHAHAHA
Is het misschien moeilijk om verkiezingen te houden wanneer je aangevallen wordt?
Wonder what impact it will have on the results 🤔
Difficult to disrupt an election in which the results are largely pre-determined
A week after Trump’s attempt to pressure Ukraine to halt attacks on russian refineries, Ukraine hit the Kapotnya Oil Refinery in Moscow, which produces roughly 40% of the capital region’s gasoline and diesel fuel needs.
👍 Here's how to get Urkaine to stop hitting Russian refineries. Russia stops bombing Ukraine indiscriminately and withdraws its troops. Done!
If Russia wants their gas production in tact they can stop killing Ukrainians, go home and pay up reparations. If anyone else wants Russian gas they can make Russia stop killing civiliansgo home and pay up reparations.
Parfait Ce n'est pas trump qui subit les bombes sur son peuple Slava ukraini
If Montana ends up being the tipping point state for 60 senate seats, I’m going to be fucking livid. There is a chance Alani Bankhead’s ego could block a filibuster proof majority.
Big problems for Russia here 👍 Outstanding work, Ukraine.
Zelenskyy’s fuck you message to Russian traitor, enemy of western civilization, Donald Trump
The era of fossil fuel supremacy is really going out with a bang
In June I did a calculation of the downstream environmental and harm of a strike on a refinery like this, and I’ll repost it here: The Moscow Oil Refinery processes 12M tonnes of crude a year, ≈ 240,000 barrels a day. It's in a residential area, with people living within 500m of the tanks.
If 1-3 large tanks were hit, between 10,000 and 30,000 tonnes of product were involved. Roughly 60-80% of that burns. The rest just spills. The combustion of the event alone would have released an estimated 19,000–75,000 tonnes of CO₂.
it blows my mind that in the last five years somehow we've all given up whatever ghost there was on climate change just so we could make data centers and make energy infrastructure into legitimate targets. anyone who supports blowing up refineries is ontologically evil
The true cost of war is very rarely realized. Great thread right here.
Thank you for doing this math and sharing it. This is the stuff that regularly gets printed in reports nobody but the specialists read. ... but all of which has massive social costs.
I don't want to downplay your actual point about the health of people in the 'fallout' of damaged refineries, but as a extended effect I wonder if or how much the instability of the oil market as a result of these attacks and Hormuz is driving adoption of green energy.
Well, sucks to be a Russian living in Moscow, I HOPE
Yesterday I watched Russian drones strike Dnipro, including a shopping mall. This morning, images appear to show a huge fire at Moscow’s Kapotnya oil refinery after a reported Ukrainian drone attack. Strikes also on TETS-22 and in Voronezh, Ryazan and Dagestan.
Just when Putin was congratulating himself on "winning" another "close" election. That should make him choke on his breakfast!
Mall in Dnipro, refinery in Kapotnya. One is terror, the other is the bill for it. Long-range Ukrainian sanctions landing on Moscows war budget.
Russians need to stop Putin. US citizens need to stop tRump.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, more than 180 drones have attacked Moscow. Explosions were also reported in the Moscow region. An oil refinery in Kapotnya was hit and is on fire, while explosions were heard at a thermal power plant in Dzerzhinsky.
The Kapotnya refinery and a power plant were hit the same night. Moscovites spent three years cheering a war they thought was happening to someone else. Now the invoice reaches their own grid.
That’s the kind of language that the butcher understands!
I'd love to see 10,000 drones dropping on Moscow!
Burn everything !! Slava Ukraine !!!
