Hideo Kojima casts Bill Skarsgård as PHYSINT lead at Xbox TGS

gamingSep 17, 202626910

Hideo Kojima used Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast to confirm Bill Skarsgård as the lead of PHYSINT, framing the project as a major milestone in his career. Kojima unveiled a new poster that pairs Skarsgård with Charlee Fraser and listed Don Lee and Minami Hamabe among the cast, while the game’s tagline, "the next Cold War begins," anchored the espionage stakes. One contributor who narrated Kojima’s words for an audio-described version described recording the announcement as surreal and top secret, and voices within the community are split between enthusiasm for Skarsgård’s casting and ambivalence about Kojima leaning into major Hollywood names.

microshaft is gonna shitcan this in like 2 years when kojima's spent like $50m hanging out with this guy instead of making a videogame

Kojima has hired new friends to hang out with him

Once again reminding everyone that Concord was more expensive than both Death Stranding games combined, before anybody decides to deepthroat Sony and go “WOW I GUESS THEY WERE RIGHT ABOUT HIM BEING TOO EXPENSIVE”

Tak5

Reminder to any contrarians that Sony is continuing to make live service games. In fact they announced a few months ago they're doubling down on them. They also get money for doing nothing because of ps plus. They 100% could have afforded to keep funding Physint. They're just stupid.

piercingosprey.bsky.social2

So... sony was right? Why are they casting expensive actors to mocap for video games. Kojimbo obviously just wants to make movies at this point.

I have faith in KojiPro delivering with this game and OD. I don’t trust Xbox to not go “yeah never mind” and just cut it.

A little early morning fun thing I did. I got to channel my inner Hideo Kojima and narrate his words in English for the audio-described version of the @xbox.com TGS Showcase!!! Finding out more about OD and PHYSINT while recording his words was so super surreal and felt very top secret!

kojima showing off more about physint makes it so hard to care about knowing it's famous actors and shit. part of what makes metal gear solid so charming is they did not in fact get Kurt Russell, they just didn't give a fuck
