Earl Spencer says Charles told him Diana would be 'forgotten soon enough'

In Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, Charles Spencer alleges that days after Diana’s 1997 death the then‑Prince of Wales told him “rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough” during a heated phone argument about funeral arrangements. Spencer says the row followed his refusal to let William, then 15, and Harry, then 12, walk in their mother’s funeral procession and that a senior royal aide later phoned to say the boys would take part. The memoir is being serialised by the Daily Mail and is due to be published next Tuesday in the UK by Penguin Michael Joseph. Spencer writes that he was stunned by the alleged remark and that it revealed what he calls Charles’s pent‑up contempt for Diana. Four copies of a Dutch edition were taken from a truck en route to a Netherlands warehouse, the reporting says. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson replied that while the palace does not normally comment on books, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory even many years after a loss.

tinyurl.com/3urecjve I hold no brief for the aristos or the monarchy but if this is true, anyone suffering from the delusion that the King possesses empathy can be assured; he doesn't. If ever anything showed this to be true it is the Buck House statement. The Carolinian Court hasn't a fucking clue
