Trump urges Ukraine to stop striking Russian oil refineries as U.S. diesel tops $6

President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during an official visit to Ireland that Ukraine should stop "knocking out diesel fuel in Russia," saying those strikes are "hurting the world." Ukraine has stepped up attacks on Russian oil refineries and logistics in recent months, actions Kyiv calls legitimate military targets, and those strikes have significantly reduced Russia's refining capacity. Moscow has responded by extending a ban on diesel exports through the end of September to stabilize domestic supplies. U.S. diesel prices reached a record average of $6.06 per gallon on Friday, AAA data show, about 63% higher than a year ago for truckers and farmers. Market concerns are also being driven by the separate U.S.-Iran conflict, with Brent crude for November trading near $106.69 per barrel and WTI for October near $102.15 after recent regional attacks and pipeline disruptions. Reporting and analysts note that if Ukraine heeded Trump’s request, it could undercut Kyiv’s strategy of targeting Russian energy infrastructure to pressure Moscow.

🇺🇸❗️🇺🇦 Trump denies that his conflict with Iran caused a jump in fuel prices, instead blaming Ukraine for strikes on Russian refineries, - Politico European official familiar with the US negotiating efforts called it an attempt by Trump admin to find a “scapegoat” ahead of the US midterm elections.

Once again, Trump supports Putin against Ukraine, calling on Ukraine to stop its successful bombing of Russian oil refineries. Ukraine has taken out about 30% of Russia's refinery capacity. If increased to 50%, Putin might accept calls for an energy ceasefire, but Trump works for Putin's victory.
