Jimmy Kimmel moved his interview with Texas U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico off ABC and posted it to YouTube after the FCC under Chairman Brendan Carr warned networks about enforcing the equal time statute. The YouTube upload had drawn about 6.8 million views as of Saturday evening. Carr accused Talarico on X of staging a "hoax" to drive "clicks and donations" and posted a meme mocking the candidate. Kimmel said the FCC guidance amounted to improper interference with editorial decisions; a White House spokesperson called Kimmel "play acting" and said Carr had not threatened him. Talarico described the move as government censorship and posted the interview to X, calling it "the interview Trump's FCC doesn't want you to see." In February, Stephen Colbert posted a Talarico interview that later generated 9.6 million YouTube views, underlining how late-night segments have reached far larger online audiences than their broadcast audiences.
