President Donald Trump angrily advanced on ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott on Thursday evening in Dallas after she pressed him about his plan to give every adult American $5,000 if Republicans win the midterms. Scott reminded Trump that the United States is about 40 trillion dollars in debt and asked why voters would need a cash incentive if his economic policies were working. Trump responded that the payments were a reward for Americans ‘‘having to put up with’’ Biden’s policies, then snapped ‘‘Not you!’’ at Scott when she tried a follow-up and barked ‘‘Your network and you, you’re the worst’’ before taking another question. The Daily Beast reported the $5,000 promise could cost roughly 1.35 trillion dollars based on the adult population and noted Trump told Laura Ingraham earlier he did not think he needed congressional approval because ‘‘we’ve made so much money.’’ Scott later posted the exchange online. The outlet also recorded that Trump, 80, has repeatedly berated Scott in past encounters, calling her rude and nasty and previously labeling her obnoxious and a terrible reporter, and that she has faced threats after prior confrontations.
