The Oakland Athletics blanked the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 Wednesday at Sutter Health Park as lefty Brady Basso and four relievers limited Toronto to six hits. The A’s scored in the third and fourth innings during what was a bullpen day for the Blue Jays; Toronto’s best threat ended when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit into a 1-4-3 double play in the fifth. Oakland is missing its original Nos. 1-5 hitters, Nick Kurtz, Shea Langeliers, Tyler Soderstrom, Brent Rooker and Jacob Wilson, plus Opening Day starter Luis Severino, yet the A’s have still won six of eight games. Toronto finished a nine-game road trip 5-4 but fell to 73-74 and dropped 1.5 games behind Cleveland for the final American League Wild Card spot; the Blue Jays could pick up half a game if the Guardians lose to the Orioles later Wednesday. Losing two of three in the West Sacramento series cost Toronto a chance to gain ground against a club that entered the day 30 games under .500.

What a fricking roller coaster year. Losing must win series to the Royals and A's (unless we have a miracle 9th). Winning series against the Red Sox, Rays and Guardians. The entire AL just isn't very good. The 6 games against the Orioles are gonna decide the #Bluejays fate.
